Jason surprised me with an overnight retreat to wine country. A belated birthday gift. It’d been ages since we visited Yamhill County for the sole purpose of going wine tasting.
Found a quintessential roadside cafe for lunch. We initially drove by it, planning to stop in Newberg but I had a feeling and asked Jason to turn around at the next gravel road. One of those places you just know upon arrival you’re going enjoy a good meal and come back again.
Despite the gray skies and rainstorm it turned out to be a great day for wine tasting. As we roamed through downtown Carlton we were rewarded with a rainbow.
I love wine tasting in Oregon. Oftentimes you find yourself in the tasting room with the winemaker. Sometimes he’ll be the one across the bar, pouring your flight. And you can spend the better part of an hour getting to know their story (while learning a few new things about the wine making process).
We finished the evening eating fish tacos and listening to acoustic Americana music. I think it may have been one of my most favorite days.
How Fun!!! Sounds amazing
What a beautiful way to spend the day. Good job Jason! I love the pictures, Amy. I miss you!
