Sun, Sand and more Turkey! in California

November 28, 2007 by dailygnome Leave a Comment

We just returned from a long Thanksgiving weekend in LA. Aside from Thanksgiving Feast #3 at G&G Petrie’s, we spent most of our time at Aaron and Julie’s in Santa Monica.

It felt so good to take a break from work and house projects and just hang out. On Saturday the guys watched the Ducks score a goose egg against the Bruins at the Rose Bowl while Julie, Nancy and I took Carson to see some tar
pits
.

Our days consisted mainly of napping, hiking (LA-style – we could still hear the freeway and see houses), watching Weeds on DVD and playing Guitar Hero. I finally rocked Sedated by the Ramones on medium level the day we left, but I had a hard time getting any practice in with Jason’s jam sessions. Although we did manage to log in some physical activity with a couple of good runs. We could wear shorts!

Carson stuck his toes in the sand for the first time. At first he didn’t care for the texture, but once Aunt Julie pulled out a bucket and shovel he turned in to a certified beach bum. He liked it so much he even tried to taste it.

And our LA experience wouldn’t be complete if we didn’t have at least one celebrity sighting. On the last night after dinner out Jason and I ran in to Phil Keoghan in the parking lot. It’s true -everyone looks shorter in person.

The sun fix was needed, but it’s nice to be home in rainy Portland.
