Although we still have half empty boxes sprinkled throughout the house and many unopened in the basement, we’re officially moved in. Trying to fit our old things into new and different spaces (and fighting the urge to rush to IKEA for quick fixes) has been a bit of a challenge. I’ve made the decision to only buy furniture I love, even if it means waiting and living with pieces I don’t enjoy looking at (eagerly awaiting the day when we can put our overstuffed recliner on craigslist and send it on its way).
Work projects have taken priority when what I really want to do is browse design blogs, organize and plan, all with an endless budget to buy new furniture and decor. Or at the very least get Hadley’s room consisting of more than her bed and a cardboard box full of books (Carson definitely came out ahead with the room split). But for the time being she’s just jazzed about her purple walls.
We’re loving our new neighborhood. As I work in my sunny spot each day, I can hear the neighborhood kids up and down the street. The annual block party landed on the weekend after we moved in. We’ve met all our neighbors and have already received two offers for babysitting. My favorite coffeehouse is right down the street and we’re walking distance to practically everything. With a few modifications (no Mt. Hood view and it’s definitely shy of an acre) I believe we’ve found it: our ideal forever home.
On moving day our thoughtful {and very awesome} realtor Jim presented us with these two framed house sketches by a local artist. I’m in the process of painting the den and can’t wait to display them once the paint has dried.

Hi Amy, congrats your new home! Sounds ideal…
If you're into design blogs, check out Three Men and a Lady on blogspot. Michelle is a friend here in Tucson, mama to two small boys and she is amazing! All of her projects are done on a strict budget, with tons of thrift store finds…so fun.
