This morning the piano is in the kitchen next to our mattress and the recliner is in the kids’ room along with an assortment of tables and nightstands crammed under Carson’s loft bed {it’s my snail house!}
We’re finally refinishing our hardwood floors. Eight years ago, as ambitious new home owners I thought this would be one of our first house projects. But then other things became more important {like painting over the cobalt blue moldings, the yellow mustard fireplace and tackling our dust bowl of a backyard}. Throw a dog and kids into the mix and it’s not such a priority anymore. You lose steam with house projects and learn to live with the hole in the center of the living room someone filled with wood putty years ago {I’d love to know the story behind that.}
We’ve decided to sell our little bungalow and plan on putting it on the market this summer {sigh. I’m getting a bit nostalgic about leaving our first home, flaws and all}. We’re addressing some of the projects I wish we would have done years ago. Sometimes it works out that way. I hope the new home owners appreciate their gleaming hardwoods. And embrace our color palette of paint choices.
moving? how exciting! where are you headed? out to that rural country you featured a few weeks ago? the next bungalow owners are lucky folks – you guys have done such a great job with it.
Thanks Magpie – we'll be staying in the city, just a different neighborhood. I really love this city too much to ever move away.
