Ground Breaking

September 12, 2012 by dailygnome Leave a Comment

This week we officially began a long-awaited home renovation. After a long line of red tape we finally received the green light. Drop boxes delivered, Honey Bucket placed, lead paint warnings posted…let the games begin!

Thanks to generous friends and neighbors we’ve had a place to lay our heads the past month or so. I jumped the gun on clearing out our furniture not anticipating everything involved with a major remodeling project before the sledgehammers get swung. Best to get all your ducks in a row first before ordering that Pod (lesson learned).

Now that summer vacation has come to an end and our Professional House Sitting Services are no longer in high demand we’re piecing together the next 100 days (give or take) through airbnb and VRBO.

The kids are taking it all in stride. “I love staying in different houses and beds!” Hadley exclaimed when we were packing up suitcases for the umpteenth time last week.

Our first stop for the next 30 days is a welcoming basement bungalow apartment in the Sellwood neighborhood of SE Portland. Day three and we’re already settled in. Bonding over backyard beers with the friendly owners, a babysitting offer from their teenage daughter, and don’t get me started on the drum set or college connection. Details to come.
