One of the things I loved about our old house were the built-in bookshelves on either side of the fireplace. So when Dan came to bid the studio project a few months ago we asked him about the possibilites for bookshelves in the living room. I wanted them to look original but with the low windows on either side I was having a hard time visualizing it.
Dan has a way of designing the woodwork to look original, playing off elements and details throughout the home.

A challenge was matching the original stain of the existing woodwork. After 90 years of aging the wood grain came through in varying colors and shades. After some trial and error, we were referred to the folks at Powell Paint Center and they were able to provide a process and stain that worked great. We’re really happy with the result!
Wow! Your carpenter does amazing work. Your bookshelves look great. If I didn't know, I'd think they were original to the house.
Is this just something he does on the side for friends or does he have a business? If it is a business I'd love to know what the name of his company is.
