Father’s Day Sewing Project

June 3, 2009 by dailygnome 3 Comments

My sewing machine has sat idle the past few months. And I think this project is just the inspiration I need to dust it off. I’d love to make a tie for Jason with the kids for Father’s Day. No fuddy-duddy financial planner pattern either. Something snazzy. The purl bee has very detailed instructions for this project and I’m inspired to give it a shot. But is seems like a bit of a jump from sewing bean bag squares to a custom tie. May need to recruit a sewing pal with more know-how than I. Because for this project I can’t exactly ask this guy to bail me out when I get stuck.

Details and instructions found here.

What a great idea… I hope one of your sewing friends can help you out! Lord knows that's not I! I am hoping one day… πŸ™‚

He-he, we were thinking about doing one of those for Anthony also. I saw a link over on sewmamasew that had a really easy tutorial. I'll check out the link you posted and see which one might be easier. πŸ™‚

It's not too hard to make a tie and the result is quite satisfying. You can always start with cheap piece of fabric before you jump into using silk. I found that cotton wrinkles way too easy for a tie. I can't wait to see what you come up with. Bet it will be fabulous!
