Elephant Onesie

August 4, 2009 by dailygnome 1 Comment

A while back I bought a boatload of onesies planning to do some serious crafting. Then work deadlines and summer funshine and wiping down the high chair and needing a big long nap got in the way and they remained packaged in my sewing drawer.

Part of my procrastination was due to not easily finding a stencil template that inspired me enough to want to get my craft on. I sought images that were simple and basic and not too complicated to cut out. And cute. Freehanding was out of the question. Even tracing poses a challenge for me. The harder I try, the worse it looks {seriously, tracing? how can you mess that up?}. Then it hit me there was probably a font I could outline to create a template.

Thanks to dafont.com I found an animal font that was a perfect match for my abilities. I started with the elephant. On deck next: wiener dog. Hadley’s fall wardrobe will be all about the animal kingdom. I bet she could even pull off wearing an armadillo.

Here’s the template I created if you’d like to give it a go:

And again, I used this tutorial.
