Mother’s Day Recap

May 9, 2011 by dailygnome 2 Comments

I awoke to a parade of presents in bed, both handmade and store bought, including this pair wellies handpicked by Jason and Carson from my favorite neighborhood shop. Presented with a steamy mug of Stumptown on the side. The kids both made beautiful hand-dyed scarves at school, although Hadley opened hers on the car ride home last week and still convinced it’s for her. “I made it for me. It’s for  Mudder’s Day,” she tells me.

We headed out, planning to brunch at Tasty n Sons but with two hungry kids in tow a 90 minute wait was not in the cards {why do all the best brunch spots not take reservations?}

We went the food cart route and hit FlavourSpot, just as the rain set in. Jason helped the chef set up a canopy and we all huddled underneath savoring our dutch tacos:

Our original plans of spending the day meandering up and down Mississippi Street didn’t seem appealing in a downpour, so we came up with a plan B. Carson breaks it down:

After a relaxing afternoon the clouds parted long enough to tackle some yardwork {which I was looking forward to!}.

And to top it all off, my lovely and very thoughtful neighbor brought over this stunning flower basket she made herself.

 Happy Mother’s Day! Thanks to Jason and the kids I felt very well-celebrated. Here’s to more spring flowers and sunshine and less days of wearing wellies {even if they are super cute}.

    So true about brunch. What's up with no reservations, even on Mother's Day? Looks like you had a fab day!
