When day turns to night a star-filled sky appears above Carson’s room. A few weeks ago Jason constructed the entire solar system plus about a hundred stars onto the ceiling. The big dipper is positioned directly above his bed.
After I tuck him in I love to linger a while in the stillness, snuggling him close as we gaze up at the always starry night.
During these times, away from distractions of daily life, we talk about his day, school, friends, and the things that are important to him. I cherish these quiet moments, before it’s time for final hugs and goodnight kisses.
Then I slip away leaving him to dream his sweet dreams.
