By 6:30am Carson wakes up ready to hit the ground running. Before Hadley was born I had no problem with him busting into our room, jumping up on the bed, playing steamroller and asking for his milk at 10 decibels before I had my morning coffee. But that was when I had the luxury of sleeping a full eight hours uninterrupted.
After a few chaotic mornings of the old routine it was apparent a new one was needed.
Now Jason gets Carson dressed, fed and ready for the day while I roll over and enjoy another hour or two of precious, precious sleep while Hadley sleeps soundly in her bassinet. The morning routine includes a trip out to the garden to pick blueberries for his breakfast. We have three bushes and Carson has eaten every ripe berry on them (plus a few green ones).
On the days when Carson goes to school the routine ends with Jason bringing me a steaming mug of coffee and Carson giving Hadley and I hugs before they both head out the door.
Then I drink my coffee in bed and listen to the peace and quiet.
