I had the honor of shooting Lionheart in Laurelhurst on Saturday for the Children’s Heart Foundation of Oregon. It was an event to celebrate the courage of children with congenital heart defects and to raise money for CHD research. Nearly twice as many children die from congenital heart defects each year in the United States as from all forms of childhood cancer combined yet CHD receives little funding.
A friend of mine’s daughter, Audrey, was born with a CHD a month before Carson was born. Seeing her strength as she watched her daughter endure multiple surgeries and spend the first two months of her life in the hospital helped me to better cope with Carson’s challenges after he was born and to focus on what is important in life. Audrey is 14 months old now and doing great. It was such an inspiration to witness the spirit of all these young survivors.
That’s so cool you did that. Great photos! And I’m so happy to hear that Audrey is doing ok now.
