When we moved into our new house we debated where my home studio should go. About 15 years ago an addition was built off the kitchen that receives incredible light (walls of windows, a skylight!). Although it wasn’t private the space was the best option for my studio (since we won’t be bumping out a dormer or finishing the basement anytime soon).
To make the space work we called on Dan, our carpenter friend who did such an incredible job with the kitchen nook at our last house. We broke the room up with a pony wall (thanks Jim!) and created a separate breakfast nook (soon to be complete). We carried out the same wall color from the kitchen (Divine Olive). The wainscoting was inspired by the house we stayed at during our trip to Olivia Beach.

The window I found in the salvage section at Rejuevenation. After I cleaned it up, Jason hung it creating a wonderful visual barrier without blocking out any natural light:
Rain or shine, I’m loving my new light-filled studio. Since the majority of the time the house is empty during my quiet working hours, I don’t mind having it located just off the hub.
