Thank You Amsterdam*

October 23, 2013 by dailygnome 2 Comments

I have a milestone birthday approaching at the end of the month and each weekend I’ve been marking it with some sort of celebration.  I recently gathered up my closest Portland friends and spent the evening pedaling the Pedalounge, barhopping and cycling the streets in the Hosford-Abernethy neighborhood. Great friends, my own soundtrack, good beer and so much laughter.  I knew it would be fun but it went down as one of my all time favorite nights.

I brought along my Polaroid instant for some fun snapshots throughout the night:

Victoria BC: Pictorial Recap

May 8, 2013 by dailygnome 3 Comments

We had the opportunity to take a weekend excursion up to Victoria, British Columbia thanks to Jason’s work. It was a relaxing weekend full of good food, mojitos, and exploring the city. My iPhone recap:

One morning we went for a long run along the harbour and meandered through old neighborhoods under a brilliant blue sky:photo3

Ending up at Craigdarroch Castle overlooking the city:

Followed by a much anticipated lunch. Presenting the most heavenly fish taco ever. Definitely worth the 30 minute wait in line {look at all that ahi!).  Jason was equally pleased with his fish & chips from this fab food cart we had heard about all weekend:

Breakfast With Santa

December 20, 2012 by dailygnome 2 Comments

Jason has some longtime family friends whose dad recently retired and became a professional Santa. A very authentic and jolly one at that. We were invited to Breakfast with Santa last weekend in their adorable Sellwood home.

Santa arriving with his bag of goodies, bells in tow:

Carson came prepared with a homemade cookie wrapped up and promptly presented it to St. Nick upon his arrival:

His visit included a special storytime:

On Hadley’s list this year? Another Bunny, please.

And after hearing each child’s wish he gathered his bag, walked out the door and down the street *where his sleigh and reindeer were waiting.*

Rose City Food Cart Park

November 19, 2012 by dailygnome 1 Comment

Another reason why I can’t wait to be back on the block. The Rose City Food Cart Park opened last month and now that we’re temporary renting a place in the ‘hood this is my new go-to lunch spot.

Open Saturdays {and evenings} for meeting up with friends:

Spicy Crab Chowder every Friday at Garcelon’s Soup & Grilled Cheese: Yummy goodness.

This being Portland our neighborhood food park comes complete with an enclosed tent for those endless rainy days, a play area to keep the kiddos busy while waiting for fish tacos and bragging rights as being P-town’s first 100% compostable pod. Plus bicycle powered smoothies.

Fill up your weekend growler at Captured by Porches mini brew pub (open Thurs, Fri, Sat). Or stay and enjoy a pint around the fire pit:
Now if only the Mexican cart would open its window. It’s been parked at the pod for a month with no activity. Just torturing me.
