Another First

October 13, 2011 by dailygnome 1 Comment

The past month has been a whirlwind of travels, hosting out of town family, endless work projects and transitions.

But I didn’t want to pass over one very important milestone. First Day. New backpack, lunchbox, bus ride and all.  One month in he thinks Kindergarten is quite spectacular. Amazing teacher, new friends, recess and field trips…what’s not to like.

Presenting the First Day Happy Dance:

A bit more enthusiastic than his first day of Preschool three years ago:

Graduation Day

September 2, 2011 by dailygnome 2 Comments

The day arrived far too quickly {not that I didn’t have fair warning}. But it seemed like just yesterday we were still counting your milestones in weeks.

We kicked off the day with a celebratory breakfast at our neighborhood bagel shop before dropping you both off for your final days.

Running down the aisle to “Uncle Jesse.” Your school knows how to give a proper sendoff!

Hadley certainly enjoyed the potluck dinner and cupcakes!

Your teachers compiled a book of each graduate’s story from the time you began. Complete with photos and first-hand experiences. It gave me a window into your daily life over the past few years when I wasn’t around. It was an emotional experience reading your story together.

I’m so proud of you Little Gnome. Next stop: Kindergarten!

A Make Up Post for the Second Child

September 20, 2009 by dailygnome 2 Comments

It wasn’t documented in any baby book and there were no photos to mark the event. Not one ounce of hoopla. Or pomp or circumstance. A few weeks ago Miss Hadley took a really big step. She started school. A really fun school where she plays all day and hangs out with people her own age.

Adapting beautifully and having a ball.

Getting His Ears Lowered

February 3, 2009 by dailygnome 2 Comments

After two years of cutting his hair ourselves it was time to turn to the professionals. Carson needed a stylist. Last week we took him in for his first “real” haircut. They made it quite painless – sat him in a car, hooked him up with his favorite movie, gave him an official certificate, and 15 minutes later he looked two years older.
