We celebrated Carson’s third birthday on Saturday with a small gathering of family and friends…
The Invite:Sunny Morning
We lucked out with a perfect day for the backyard celebration:
Race Car Game
I put together a race game for the kids. They pretended to be cars and raced around to different “pit stops” collecting prizes in their stoplight bags made from brown lunch bags and construction paper. With the kids so young I wasn’t sure how the game would fly, but they followed directions and all crossed the finish line! At the end they each received a balloon:
Cookie Decorating
I found these car cookie cutters online. Carson and Nana baked the cookies last weekend and during the party the kids frosted them. Others {aka the birthday boy} preferred to just sample the different colored frostings:
Dance Music
We put together a playlist including many of Carson’s favs โ Dan Zanes, BNL Snacktime and of course the infamous Car Song:
The Cake
The Car Cake. 100% Jason’s creation:
Custom 03 Shirt
Carson’s 03 shirt was inspired by this tutorial. The birthday crown I made last year {my first sewing project!}, with one additional button sewn on. I found the instructions and template in Soul Mama’s the creative family:
Birthday Banner
I purchased the happy birthday banner from this etsy shop a few weeks ago. It was custom ordered so I was able to choose the colors {primary, bright and cheerful} and will use it for many backyard birthday parties to come:

Happy birthday little gnome! You’re growing up way too fast.cake
Amy – you are so CREATIVE! Carson is so lucky to have you as a mama!!
Looks like you had a great time! And that you’ve gotten used to your new camera already, too. ๐ Great pics – thanks for posting!
Happy Birthday Carson!
It looks like your party was loads of fun! Papa Ron, Aunt Jen and I sure wish we could have been with you to help you celebrate. We hope you enjoy all your presents, and can’t wait to see you in a couple of months.
We love you!
Happy Birthday, Carson!!!
I love the invitation! Did you design it? My son is requesting his second vehicle party in a row, so I'm scouting out new ideas.
